As VIP Manager at MEXC, one of the world's largest digital asset exchanges, Dawson Chu holds a business development mandate across the EN region. The remit expanded from two countries to four continents on the back of what he built in ANZ.
His work centres on a single thesis: this region has been structurally underserved by global capital, and the opportunity lies in building the connective tissue between the two.
Dawson hosted the first invite-only digital asset whale night held in New Zealand, bringing MEXC Ventures face to face with the region's leading investors, KOLs and builders.
He hosts the Auckland arm of Cryptocurrency NZ, New Zealand's national crypto community network, has spoken across the region including at Binance NZ, and co-runs the monthly Solana ANZ meetups alongside the Superteam and Solana Foundation network.
Dawson is also a builder. In his first two hackathons, his teams took a track win at both: TrustTrace, an AI agent that scores KOL calls against post-event market outcomes, and Ora, an NZD-denominated on-chain lending market. He works across the region's hackathon ecosystem through UoA Web3 and Web3NZ.
Dawson came to the industry as a trader first, opening his first exchange account in 2021, and has traded through multiple market cycles since, with a focus on technical analysis, market structure and contrarian positioning.
